No Fleas Policy

Ears to Rears Grooming Salon has a No Flea policy which means that all dogs that enter MUST be treated for fleas before coming. Other customers do not want to bring fleas home and neither do you. I keep my dogs on a flea preventative. There are several great products for flea prevention which are available through your vet.

If a client comes and is not aware their dog has fleas, they will be told or it may be put in writing on a please see your vet card. Extra fees will apply. However, if it becomes a continual problem and the flea issue has not been resolved, your pet may not be allowed to return for grooming until the problem is resolved.

Some clients may find this policy harsh, exterminators are expensive and fleas can make your pet ill.. You don’t go to your beautician to rid yourself of head lice; likewise you don’t go to the groomer to get rid of fleas.

If fleas are a problem I will be happy to recommend products that work well for your pet as well as your home, because if your dog has fleas on him, I guarantee you also have fleas in your home, whether you are aware of it or not. You may want to hire an exterminator, or use flea bombs in each room of the house. You may also want to treat your yard, the source of the fleas.

Pets that never go outside (such as cats) can also get fleas by them hitching a ride on the humans in the house. Mowing the yard, raking leaves, heck just walking or playing in the lawn can bring them inside, and then they find your pet and lay thousands of eggs each. Soon your entire house is infested and it takes a lot of time and money to rid your home of them.

There is no flea free season in Pennsylvania. Our winters are strange and all it takes is one flea to hop on you or your pet before a killing frost and then you have them all winter long.

I treat all my pets monthly for fleas, you wouldn't want to go to the groomer and have your dog come home with fleas, so please give all of our customers the same courtesy.

Thank you,
RainBear
